Bronco sent me some 12 bar blues, allowing me to do whatever I wanted with it. To me, it was the ultimate chance to indulge my Billie Holliday fantasy. I used my bluesiest voice (not an imitation of Lady Day by any means, but more inspired by), wrote some hard luck lyrics, and started singing. I hope you enjoy the results, because boy howdy, did I ever have a good time with this song! Bronco is an absolutely fantastic person with whom to collaborate. It was a wonderful experience for me, and I hope it was for him. I adore all the wonderful touches he added to this piece. It started with him and it ended with him.

Note: there are two versions of this song. The original file and the 45RPM version. This is the latter. I put the song through Vinyl to get that "Really old blues record" feel, with crackle, pop, hum, and old attic feel. I think it sounds kinda cool, so I thought I'd share this one here. If you want the unadorned version, just let me know.

sublime vocal harmonies used sparingly to a divine effect. lead vocals have plenty of feel--enough to make the lyrical content understood without even knowing what they are.

when the aging sonic texture works it's effective but at times the digital presence undermines itself. for example, the beginning of the guitar solo sounds as if there are traces of chorus. no matter though--i knew a band that ran their tape through water to sound more as if the recording was old!

Holy Cow!!!! Another gem!!!! I actually prefer your regular voice, but this shows just what an artist you are-- willing to take chances-- and succeed at them...

Love the production. Feels like some of the old 78s my father used to have... The only thing is you're going for an aged sound and you have achieved it for the most part, but the lead guitar sounds a little too modern (technologically speaking) for the period you're trying to achieve (which is a assume the late 20s to 30s), and your voice is so smooth and silky--a damn good jazz voice-- that it is hard to pull off the raspy blues of say an Etta James or a Sippie Wallace, whom I can imagine singing this tune (aside from you of course!).

Again, great work!

Bronco deserves much of the credit on this one, as he's the talented musician who played the instruments and sang back-up. I was so excited when he let me have my little blues fantasy.

Illuminator - I'd love to collab. A duet would be really cool.

Lili - thank you so much for telling others about my song.

Very Impessive. In a few hours I have a song coming up entitled, "Add Female Motown Lyrics to this song" If you would help me out with that track I would be sure to return the favor. Just a suggestion.
