Here's a collaboration with Ed Nicholson on my tune, Round Tuit. Ed, you really put the icing on the cake with this one! Thank you, so much. This is what I love about Icompositions.com. How else can you team up with such talented musicians to improve your music, (unless you have a budget like Sting?)

Also thanks to my friend, Veronica helping out on background vocals. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it.
Peace,
Pete Caputo

I listened to both versions. I don't know if I like either version beter than the other because they both have their own characters. Very cool. Superb singing and very nice touches throughout. I was kind of hoping for a return somewhere inthe song to the less effected vocal that is a tthe beginning -- mix it upa bit more. But that's a minor quibble, especailly since I don't know exactly where the next un-effected vocal would be! smileyInsta-fave!

Forgive the long comment...

Peter, the wit of the lyrics fades in comparison to the depth and spark of genius that came from where it did to bring this song out of you. Ed, you're a wizard, a true star. And tell Veronica she can sing on my dinged-up tunes anytime!

I like the little, bright dynamics added to this mix overall for a slightly more contemporary mix. In contrast, I see the original as timeless, and somethign that always will be in season, like its message. And in the end, I find the original my personal favorite of the two for its slightly greater cohesion.

There may be only one passage that leads me to this conclusion: the mid-song guitar solo. The original slide solo was paced and mixed right in the pocket of the surrounding tracks, giving me time to reflect on the lyrics' message. It sounded as if Lowell George never died but joined The Program, got clean and was bless our ears that sweet bottlenck from hell. Or heck. (That main ain't gone to no heaven.)

The new solo in that spot is, too, just right for music and tempo, but for me, not the message. It takes me out of the song the way an actor's wink at the camera takes the audience out of the character and the movie. (That wink, for any who care, ushered-in the postmodern era and the source I read to be the postwar road movies of Bob Hop and Bing Crosby.)

Instead of contemplating the lyrics, I now want to study the guitar part! (I better take those video lessons, Ed's generous gift to us all.)

I am not at al disappointed with the new. It's really a testament to the original's vision that the original feels like "my" song, into which I've poured my investment of time, that it feels like you've messed with "my" song. I feel I have to defend it like an old friend. But now I have a new one.

Maybe we should open this up to be the Next Big Covered song, the perfect antidote for Diversion's Afraid of Girls!

Pete,

Thanks so much for letting me in on this tune. I hope my part added instead of taking away. I think your remix here is very pro - especially with those awesome background vocals.

Your music makes this great site even better. No easy task.

Guitar adds a nice touch. Good Job Ed and Veronica's vocals are really nice. A little touch here and there...just release it and it soars.
