This is an old folk song from the 1800's. I did this pre-garageband and transferred it from tape (hence the noise and the overuse of reverb -- can't change that).

You are great - to be able to sustain the tune and timing so perfectly w/o music. You should pick up 100s$ in tips at pubs! Thanks for the LIFT!

so smooth! This is so beautiful. I love the simple a capella stuff you do. It is just perfect for your style.

I think the reverb is perfect for this type of song. It really makes it genuine. Don't ever change this!!!

I am hearing some amazing things from you here vocally. There is a simmering powerhouse underneath all that coolness. I think there's a hell of rock song in you too! smiley

I just love it. As always!

Cavernous reverb... sounds ... live... real? I raise my pint to you angels for your fine pitch and harmony. Production... doesn't count, you obviously are in this to share the music and not get involved in studio details. So: Cheers!

Thank you all for commenting!

Bob, not live in the sense of performing anywhere other than my living room. I was feeding it through a vocalizer workstation, which gave me the reverb (reverb that should never have been turned to max, but it was a new piece of equipment and I thought at the time that reverb was the best thing ever! I've since learned to calm down, after playing with Garageband). All the harmonies are my voice, also via the workstation. However, I do have to admit that sound engineering isn't my strong suit, so you did get that right. I just like to sing.

And JD - I've done "fake rock song" before (I hesitate to post it) and I'll be the first to admit, not really good at it. I can belt, but it comes out much more Broadway than anything else.

Joanna,
You probably think I'm nuts... I downloaded this while listening via iComp and iTunes started playing the download in the background, hence the layers I was refferring to!
It sounded incredible.

So, I'm back again listening to the track the way you meant it to be, and yes, it's still just fantastic!

Hi,
Sounds like I was in a pub ! I think you could add traditional drums, and may be a violin lead, you see. I like it though.
