Track 8 of Ramayana, Volume 1 (complete album at http://davidbowles.us/music/ramayana-volume-1/ ). Remix of a previous version.

Surpanakha (a rakshasi or man-eating demon) is the sister of the demon king Ravana. During Rama's exile, the demoness falls in love with that handsome incarnation of the god Vishnu, but he rejects her (pointing out he's married) and jokingly recommends his brother, Lakshmana (who mockingly rebuffs her). When Surpanakha angrily attacks Rama's wife, Lakshmana cuts off the rakshasi's nose; the demonness slinks off to her brother, ready to start a war.

I was lucky enough to get Matt Granz to do some guitar magic on this track... really captures the tortured soul of the demoness in question.

Hey, this is a nice remix... much more intense and focused in a way. The additional instruments make a huge impact on this piece. Glad I could help out with the backwards guitars.

I thoroughly enjoy this piece. When I was young, my father would make trips to Indonesia (he worked on government development projects for the U.S. State Department), and bring back books with the story of Ramayana, along with some of the lovely handcarved wooden puppets. So I'm somewhat familiar with the tales. This work really had the flavor of what I got from reading the stories. Thanks so much for sharing it... I'll definitely have to listen to the other Ramayana pieces you've posted.
