We're very pleased to offer a warm welcome to our guest vocalist jkane. John and I have both collab'ed with jk, together and separately, so it was a no-brainer to work up a track for him that will be on our upcoming double CD, Pangaea. His vocals were the perfect addition to this track. And James, once again, was able to lay in another stellar drum track. Timing geeks will note that this track is multi-tempo and multi-time, yet James made it seem effortless.

This song is definitely a headbanger, with more emphasis placed on riffing vs. solos. Eh, what else can I say. Listen to it! And turn it up!

jk: Vocals/lyrics
James Moore: Drums
John: Keyboards
Jay: Music/mixing/guitars/bass

I thought the drums were good through out the whole song. Were they real or software (they sure sounded real!) Regardless, it sounded good.

The keyboard is fine...

Guitar/bass I think the effects on it were... well, they could have been better.

Oh, and vocals... they didn't fit in properly.

Mixing... I think mixing was defiantly what went wrong and is making me not favor/download the song.

EDIT: Ok, just so I don't look like an idiot for saying I didn't download it but there it is on the side saying I did: I meant to hit the lyrics button, and I canceled the download immediately (lol, sry if that sounds insulting.)

Love the song. The mixing seems to be fine (balance of instruments is spot on), it's the mastering that lets it down for me. Far too much low end and top end, without enough middle. The top end is also very "swirly". There's a lot of potential here...

Powerful music.
Lots of hidden spaces on it to discover.
Way enjoyed, and favorited, and saved to my ipod, as usual.
Thank you, fellows.

I'd add a little more definition or reverb to the bass to give it more of a rock sound

I don't have the technical expertise to improve this, but I'd definitely look at those swirly bits and the middle.

Wow! This is intense. I loved the growling bass sound when the song picks up. You guys were still able to maintain your signature "Fractal" sound even on such a hard rockin' song. Great job guys. It's nice to hear Jk's voice on this. It's a very good fit.

Wow!!! Just blown away by this one fellas! Really! Jkane's vocal prowess is as usual just spectacular. He is our Eddie Vedder. I'm not saying that he is an EV imitator at all either. John has all the same qualities in his performances that make E.V. an awesome singer and performer. There is his incredible raw power that is always brimming with anger and angst- but never overflowing (too much)- and of course the cerebral nature of his singing is always impressive; sometimes it's not always about letting loose with the emotions- it can be about a controlled release of the emotions and having a great thought behind it.

Now of course, I love James' work. I find his ability to stretch the genres to be so impressive! I mean he is a favorite of mine because I was familiar with his great funk stuff and the work he's done with Dave M- but this is really great-- and this time the drums sound GREAT to me!!!

Now that leaves me to write about the core duo. Icomp's resident "Steely Dan" (not in sound- but in concept). What can I say that I haven't said before?

Nothing.

You guys are an awesome team!

I can't wait to hear the final product. That will be an awesome album!

So smooth are the transitions between timing that I really didn't notice, ... this is high quality rock music. Trade mark FG sound. Can't comment on the production/mastering issues that some mention above..sounds good to me, I like the panned guitars, Johns harmonies are excellent, the track is a testament to the skills of all involved.

John you are one of my favorite voices on the web and I can't say enough how impressed I am with the job you did on this tune, EXCELLENT! James this tune really showcases your talent you made this one look easy and I know it was not.

Jay, what can I say. Your mixing is dead on and you really brought this song alive with some killer guitars. I feel lucky to get to be a part of this with you guys, thanks for the fun.

You're using different singers ..I'd like to hear this without the vocal effects applied so heavy, without the double tracking, or at least reduced. Very solid rock track, there is a definite style developing, but with a variation to keep listeners guessing your direction. The musicianship is good.

Very, very interesting. Starts off sounding a little like Jerry Cantrell, and then immediately becomes a latter-day Metallica tune. John's ethereal vocals are always spot-on. Love the play between guitar and bass - a dynamic that is not often that exploited in most guitar-heavy tunes. I also like that you didn't spend too much time with the soft, acoustic part in the middle (like it's easy to do).

Rocking from start to finish. Love this track.

Caught this during a listen to iComp radio (15 June 2008). And after listening, I have to say: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = infinite awesomeness! Everyone clearly came to this project with their hottest, rockin'-est, riffin'-est, power hats on. Spec-tac-u-riffic!
