This is the third song in a set of five that I wrote and recorded in my senior year of college. It's brief, but so is the poem. The choir was an octet I put together for my senior comps recital--almost 15 years ago now. I'm one of the bass singers. The tuning is not perfect, but we tried our best.

It's an early composition of mine, but I think it features some nice bits.

I really like Whitman, and I thought this poem was a beautiful expression of the journey of life, of the transcendental.

Update: I have posted a copy of the score at the link below.

Beautiful, but indeed short. There's also a lot of noise on my headphones. Is it possible to filter that out?

Not sure what to do about the room noise. It's an old analogue recording from a distance in a very "live" performance space. As for the length, true, it's short. I was in a miniatures phase at the time. But it's part of a set, so with the other four pieces it makes it longer. I'm not sure where the other four recordings are, actually...I moved a few times since then...

I love choral music. I was a choir jock in high school, so many moons ago. This, a year after you posted it and fifteen years after it was recorded, is absolutely lovely.
