This is a collection of 6 synth shorts rescued from an old tape...circa 1991. I put them in a chain to form a suite...not so much because they blend (they don't really), but because they were from the same window in time.

Telemetric Suite

I. First Kiss
II. Odd Excursion
III. Ceremony
IV. Goon Dance
V. Swank
VI. Ghost of Love

This sounds like music for a Game Boy with the different levels. your level in that time was already high. I also can imagine you singing over this like in the Thommy Opera from the Who. "Ever since I was a young boy.."

cheers Frank,

it's amazing how far technology has come...wow.

(some of these sounds are really great, i think...even though they're prolly considered like 'retro' by now or something!)

these are just a bit of oldskool synth-y fun!!! (i'm glad you decided to rescue them from tape!)

Thx Rigee...4arms, dirig, Redd

I miss that old synth. I think I paid $1800 for it and 12 years later sold it at a garage sale for $30...lol. Floppy disks and 8-track sequencing with 640k of ram. Good times...the thing about the hardware limitations was it forced you to stretch those limits...which lead to some unique results.

Hey when I saw Electronica next to your name I was curious. That's crazy beautyful, joyful and simply funny. I can hear some Residents influences in it but also some Karftwerk approach. Fun, fun, fun. THX, Did.

I'm very fond of old game music...and this is (in a way) similar to that kind of music (not quite...but nevermind).

In Sweden we had a radio show a year ago that only played tunes like this...happy times for me...LOL smiley

This is really good...reminds me of some of the crazy stuff I used to do during that time period. I also agree that when you didn't had the equipment that you have today, there were so much more creativity.

When I get a bigger place I'm gonna build myself a studio loaded with my old synths and get back to basics...just to find that old creative spark again.

Good one Babs....I like it when you dig the old archives of yours'.

Thx Did and jolo

Yah...music is similar to computer programming in that programmers were very efficient when memory was limited...but when it became plentiful...massive code bloat ensued! We have thousands of soft-synths at our disposal and gigs of ram and dual-core processors and unlimited tracks...it's bewildering to me sometimes...drifting thru potential myriad options...we also have such power at our finger tips now.

Looking thru my old 4-tracks...I can't help but wonder what I would've done if I had Garage Band 20 years ago. Normal to wonder, I guess.

Oh yeah, I remember playing the first Nintendo. There was a "game" called Mario Paints that gave me the power to create sequenced visual scenes with original music, too. I was a 30something thinking this was the cat's meow! So much fun.

Really wonderful work, babs. Enjoyed.

Yes, this sounds just like 1991. smiley "Ceremony" and "Ghost of Love" really stood out as my favorite segments in this suite. The synths may have grown up a bit, but music is timeless. It's always fun to find an old cassette and archive these gems from our musical past. How have you changed and grown as a musician and artist in these last 15 years? Thanks for sharing, Baboon.

There is a cool haunting circus-like atmosphere to these compositions. They would make great soundtrack stuff for a 1987 NOVA special on the old Riverview Park amusement park. Very intriguing and captivating pieces.

It's cool that you did this. The synths are fun, and I really liked the drums, nice and tight sounding. It made me think about my first synth from way back when. So I thank you for that, and for a fun listen. smiley

Do you remember Larry Fast? Put his 33-1/3rds on 45 and this might be IT! The third (?) section is just about the happiest funeral march I have ever heard. Love them digi-castanettes! The organ piece that follows, doesn't change things, great unplanned segue. You had it together here like you have it together hear and now. The I-think-fifth piece is my least favorite just because I'm not too hip on fast digi-drum rolls. Nice little timepiece you got here. Now loop it and recycle it! (I'm not kidding! Go the experimental late-great Snakefinger route!)
