Another Granz made song from the Granz vault. The year was 2003 and I took my newly formed band The Windowpanes into the studio to make a quick three song demo in a day.

We had been together two weeks when we recorded this.

So anyways, this is pretty much what we sounded like. Good times...

Recorded Live on 2" Analog Tape at the WalleySound Studios. Lead vocals, Harmony Vocals and 2nd guitar dubbed afterwards. Take five was deemed best.

Paul Young - Vocals
Matt Granz - Guitars/Harmony Vox
Ken Raley - Bass Guitar
Matty Jo Shelley - Percussion

georgeptingley Artist The sound takes me back to 1980 when I heard Peter Case performing with the Plimsouls in an LA club. Refreshing to hear such raw energy again!

This of course is your domain and you own the garage rock scene always. Great guitar and drum hook stops.
Awesome.

Thanks everyone. I pretty much forgot I had this track... funny huh?

Another aside is that roughly two weeks after this demo was made we put on an hour show at a packed house in San Francisco's Red Devil Lounge.

Our Singer Paul had this Huge Afro wig that made Bampot's look small... was a great show. Out of maybe 20 more gigs we only had one other to compare to the first... and it was on Haight Street.

The last gig for the Windowpanes was at where my new band just played its first gig last week.

oh man, I swear you'd have to try to write a song that wasn't catchy as hell! This reminds me of something you'd hear on a Nuggets Original Artyfacts comp. Very awesome.

Great song, dig the band name. This song has a timeless quality to it (as do a lot of your songs). Catchy, groovy, great vocals, love the bass bombs. Dig it!

This has that instantly recognisable Granz flavour to it, which is definitely a good thing to have for a song writer. I love the performance. Would have been great to catch a Windowpanes set!!!

Great stuff. I hope you post the other two songs you recorded that day. I count a particular Garage rock band among my three Favorites, so this is right up my alley and I really dig it. Thank you for sharing.

I think I spent the night at WallySound once. Might be mistaken but I remember a skinny entrance hall and the studio was like 5 feet above it. Wrong place? Oh well. Anyway, good to hear some music from the Granz past. Pretty cool song too. I like the lyrics a lot and the part where the drums drop out and the stereo guitar part is by itself is great. Perfect last note on the ending. Nice touch...
