Messing around with a Bob Dylan tune off one of my favorite albums "Blood on the Tracks". This is "Tangled Up in Blue" mangled in an upbeat fashion by me just for fun.

Hey, I only just got up! What a piece to find. To be Frank, your voice is magnificent, not Dylan's.

Top piece. Top song. smiley

This should have been the sound track for Starsky and Hutch!

Bab's, awesome vocal delivery, man you got talent! I like the funk approach to this cover. All too often, and I am guilty of this, people cover stuff and don't put enough of their own signature on it.

Wonderful piece of work here!

JUst coming home...the Piano is rather wild and very fast with a good discipline. Your singing and your voice priceless. Always love your work hoping you will pick up one of my offerts and add your poetic and vocal spicies o it.

"Early one mornin the sun was shinin,
I was layin in bed
Wondrin if shed changed at all
If her hair was still red."
I love that opening verse. One of my all time favorite Dylan (Bob) songs.
You did a very cool and creative interpretation here Babs. An interpretation and not a copy smiley

That's probably my favorite of all Dylan songs. Maybe "Born in Time" beats it... (at least Clapton's version). So it's tough to go into this and not be totally skeptical.

But this is actually interesting. It's a bit cabaret/karaoke to me. The piano loop is a little too much. I still am aching to hear some guitar in there and since I love your guitar, I'd love to hear what you'd do with this one...

But thanks for the adventure.

actually no loops, JD...heh...and yep, very karaoke...garageband instruments playing some midi I created in another program, I could've gotten out the guitar and done a straight-up tangled up in blue cover, but I wanted to mess with it so I put it in 2/4 time...haha. I took a house and funk drum combo and mixed it with some bluegrass bass and rhthym...then I sang it like Rod Stewart or Black Crowes...this is the result...yep, very karaoke and "whatnot"

It always takes balls to blow up a cover a different way. For me, I keep picturing the piano player over in the corner of the room completely wacked up on coke and meth, his heart racing faster than his fingers, just doing everything he can to add that distinctive keyboard part to the song. Oh wait a minute, that's what Al Kooper did with his organ part on Like a Rolling Stone.

This is a very whimsical approach to dylan's version.
I *love* the vocals. Tight and clean, as is the mix.

Now the piano track... I also would have to say it's a little too much-- one it's an odd counterpoint, and it never stops. My suggestions: drop the piano down an octave. introduce it at half-tempo (maybe down 2 octaves, then drop it out for a while, and then bring it back (maybe at the present tempo) as a finale.

Great vocal harmonies, and the energetic piano accompaniment is totally faBOO! I have mixed feelings about Dylan most of the time -- but no mixed feelings about either this mix or this performance! Bravo!

Oh, the groveling, you people! This isn't as livelargemusic said, "something much much more than it was before." This is pure evil, Bab, in fact it wins my vote for the 2008 "Most Evil Cover" award, blowing away any competition by miles. First off you took a sad song and made it better, ood-wie. How dare you. Second of all, those controversial all-counterpoint all-the-time keys, well, they're just menacing in that meth sense (see above).

On the other hand, if I erase all preconceptions of acoustic/folky sensitivity and take this for what it is, man is it ever well done, you dawg. Your voice and the effects work together are a polished gem. (Instead of Black Crowes I'd prefer to reach back to the original, Steve MArriot, that's just me.)

In the end, rising up from the controversy you've done what artists do, tweak my emotions, spur dialogue. And boy did you ever—just like that student's flag-burning installation at the Art Institute of Chicago—in 1989, was it? So yes, evil, and to be commended.
