Another demo for the album, I wrote this nearly 2 years ago, and have just got round recording it properly.

Once again a big THANKS to James (Drums) and Brett (Bass) for their fantastic contributions to the song, theyíre always a joy to play with.

Download and set the eq to Rock, turn up loud and enjoy, the last half of the song rocks out, with a growling Telecaster.

Dedicated to my boys Oli and Will, and my gorgeous wife who actually likes this one ! (I suspect it's more to do with the subject matter than the song though !)

Your comments, suggestions and feedback would be gratefully received !

ENJOY

Dave

I know I always hurl comparisons at you and I do that because your talent is so good it is worthy to mention that this is as good as Paul Carrack and Daryl Hall - soulful and right. The Hush now chorus is a great big hook and you keep hitting it like all good hookmeisters should! Excellent job to all of you.

Dave there seems to be not enough hours in the day...to find the time to find all the great music here on Icomposition...
with that being said...MY oh MY... an I glad I found this precious jewel! This is better than so much stuff I hear on the radio.. after the first "Hush now"...I was trying to sing along! great hook makes it memorable! This is a real beauty all the way around! I'm on my third listen trying to capture every nuance...I love the way the song builds! My youngest is seventeen...but those first moments I held each one of my children are my most precious and vivid memories. You should be so very proud of this song! smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley

Yeah, I'm on that '2 year later schedule' myself but my tracks can't beat this great one. If I sang about shoes, chocolate cake and babies, my wife would listen to all my music smiley

Very polished indeed - you have long-since mastered the art of clean-rock ballads. But no amount of sleek production will ever eclipse your voice, Dave, because that's what makes all your songs and collaborations for me. The folk/country influences are apparent, and they work wonderfully. The lead guitar in the background is not only great, but it's a bold move to have put it so far back - it's a great decision as a musician to not throw yourself too far forward.

I also like how you caught me by surprise. Typically, songs called "Lullaby" are usually too soft and put me to sleep, fittingly. But this one is has much more to say, and it works in that way.

Great stuff, Dave.

Wow. My apologies for coming so late to the party my friend...

This is yet another winner.

You know what I love about this one? The way you sing along with the piano and acoustic guitar, like they're your Crosby and Nash to your Stills. It has that great soulfulness of Stephen Stills. In all honesty, you, Stephen and Eric Clapton are some of the most soulful singer songwriters around. And I mean soulful, not like Van Morrison soulful, but Stevie Wonder soulful. There is something so rich and wonderful about your voice.

Now with a voice like yours, you could sing utter rubbish and it would still sound great. But you, you don't do that do you? Nope. You sing really really great songs with poignant lyrics. And then you play fantastic guitar to boot.

And that makes you on hell of a force to be reckoned with.

This mix is pro to me. Very few things to nit pick...

I do wish the drums had somemore clarity to them, because James is such a great drummer, that I'd like to hear him do his thing with clarity. But I am assuming he's doing his electric drum kit here.

Brett's doing a bang-up job on the bass (and this mix is perfect for this type of tune); not too much in the mix, just doing exactly what is necessary to make this one shine.

And one more thing... the lead vocals could be just a tad more up front in the mix. Just a bit. Not more than that... smiley

This is up there with being among the best this site has to offer and that's no BS or favoritism here. This is the truth.

Kudos to you and the band.

I think the song will be different when I re-record it in Logic, the vocla will sound much better balanced. The guitars need a little pep up too .. JD .. as always, thanks for the input.

Brent .. It was in my wedding vows too .. I just didn't realise it !

Thanks to you all for your comments and listens. I shall do my best to reciprocate.
