This is a wonderful song by Rabbi Israel Goldfarb, 1879-1967, born in Russia and immigrated to the U. S. His congregation was in Brooklyn, NY. He was a fine musician as well as rabbi and made a significant contribution to Jewish music. I came to know the song in the early 1960s when I taught general music in a junior high; it was in one of the kids' song books. The lyrics are by Ibn Gebirol, a great Hebrew poet of the Middle Ages. I'll include them, but my arrangement is solely instrumental-- for piano and ? (listen and see). Thanks.

I like this piece, tune, lyrics, orchestration.

My only comment would be to introduce the horn (or maybe a clarinet) earlier, maybe at the 1/3 point, to give a sense of growing development
