This is the a cappela version of Beloved, a chorus of lil ol' mio. One of me sings the main melody line, then another comes in on the lower line, then the last me enters on the higher line. And believe me, that higher line is not in my most comfortable vocal range, which consists of approximately almost one octave...almost. Heh. smiley

ETA: I wrote some background info on this song down there in the comments section and then realized that it really belonged up here in the song description section. So here it is.

How Beloved came to be: I was sitting on the back porch when I got the idea for it. Heard the whole thing, the verses, the melody, the harmony. I bolted inside and cranked up the computer, grabbed the mike and sang away. One take, each vocal line. Now I've got a much better microphone and I'm hoping that I'll be able to match the energy of the old a capella version with a better new one.

A really nice song bama, you've got the voice to carry off this chant and it sounds like you had some fun recording this too. I prefer this acapella version to the other one, though saying that they both work! A lovely song, cheers!

bama Artist Thank you very much, thenownows smiley I did have fun singing this one. I was sitting on the back porch when I got the idea for it.

And thank you for the feedback on which version you prefer. I think they both need work, but they were certainly fun to do! Thanks again! bama smiley

bama Artist Yep, all one take each for each of the vocal lines. Either my voice works...or it don't! I can sound not so bad. Or I can sound awful! That night I sounded not to bad, bordering on pretty good. smiley There are a couple of places where I can hear me slide a little outta tune. But this has not been doctored. I may have put a little reverb on it, but I don't think I did much to it at all. Just did it and slapped it up on the music page at the blog. I got some noiv, ain't I? smiley

Thanks again, becwil smiley bama smiley

Outstanding! A truly stellar performance (beautiful vibrato, in particular), and the bare-bones production is the perfect accompaniment to the arrangement. I'm glad you didn't fiddle with it too much -- it has a fresh, immediate spirit that could easily be beaten out of it with too much processing. I'd like to add a constructive suggestion, but this is so simple and perfect as to leave no room for finangling. Outstanding! (Yeah, I know I said that once already.)

bama Artist Thanks, Eido smiley Now see, that's what I mean about a capella. I have several a capella pieces and they're just so easy to do. No hassling with loops or how to play this or if I could only do that. Nope, I just sits me down and I sings. That's what I really love to do. All the getting bogged down in the technical side of things drives me nuts. I just wanna sing!

Thank you, Eido, for noticing the production, as in, lack of. That was exactly what I was going for. Just me, and myself and I, singing our hearts out. That, to me, is when music is just plain ol' fun!
