This is a collage-piece made in collaboration with DennyCicak
(who provided the bells - see description at http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=93565) and my 1986 arrangement of the old Irish ballad melody, "Slane". Text is by Mary Elizabeth Byrne (1880-1931).

Enjoy. (and thanks Denny)

This is wonderful! I'm a real push-over for bells and those chimes really add a cathedral-like atmosphere to this brilliant choral arrangement. Bravo!! smiley

A very, very beautiful work! I like especially the first part, when the choir is singing very low, almost getting lost in the ringing of the bells, which gives the whole arrangement a solemn atmosphere.

The bells provide a nice foil and compliment for the vocals; I like the massive overtones--they just resound. I also like how the bells enter at unexpected points as compared to the singing. When the bells fade and the choir sings its lines, it's a very pretty place in the piece. It's interesting how the two 'instrument'--bells and choir don't work together, yet also don't compete. I like this piece quite alot.
