This is live performance of the first movement of my Suite for Trumpet and Laptop Computer in spring of 2002. Solo trumpeter is Stephen Musker. All of the accompanying sounds are midi generated, then played "live" on amplified laptop computer. Performance was in Spivey Hall at Clayton College and State University.

TRULY awesome!
What an atmosphere - and beautiful textures.
Very effective and impressive cluster chords.
To go by the title: all GM sounds? That's almost unbelievable.

Do you draw some of your inspiration from listening to music by Ligeti? like those very quiet passages of incidental music in 2001 - A Space Odyssey?

I LOVE it!

A delicate, fascinating arrangement with magic music for a strong, but nevertheless sensitive trumpet solo contrast.

Yes, just GM sounds? Midi(assuming from the title and quality of sounds)? Sound fonts? Fill us in. I do hear Ligeti, but I also hear Charles Ives blowing the trumpet ala,' The Unaswered Question'. What a great trumpet line in its angularity. For 'older' sounds, you do manage to create quite a cornucopia of kaleidoscopic timbres and textures!
