Cool to hear a sequel to 'Amazing Bee' I'm digging the minimalist approach because it gives the melody and vocals prominence minus any clutter, something a lil' different in approach which is cool , always nice to keep the listeners on their toes. Excellent return... will there be more? Sure hope so!! 😀👍

Cool you stumbled across the track out of iComp, and then later caught 'Bela' here too. Yes we where VERY surprised Alan Cross picked it up, possibly down to that coinciedence posting on Mr Lugosi's birthday.

Glad you like the reworking @RazbaqueDirge

@jolofsson yes for years my accent has 'bugged' me. Only recently realized it's what gives my tracks my character, so I should stop trying to sound 'mid-atlantic'. smiley

First off no misheard lyrics on this one, eh?

Well what can I say Mark, no word of a lie or 'schmoozing' this IS terrific, it ticks so many pop 80's boxes, the revisiting of this is totally worth it. smiley

Evokes, The Church (in their straightforward rock out mode) so I'm uber happy, hah! Song ended before I'd finished typing, hits play again, yep this is a keeper Mark, I'd had a horrendous morning doing handyman stuff and was in a sombre mood but this has raised my spirits, damn great song! smiley

@mfwmiles thank-you, the lyrics are all MissRedd's I just provided a musical backdrop to the unfolding story in the song here. smiley

What I enjoy on this one is the rather bleak/sad words are juxtapositioned by what I personally feel is a happy music sound, so it pulls the listener it two directions. smiley
Who Crashed Who? by zallaz 5 years ago
@LunaBleu gritty, possibly chaotic. Relisening to this a few weeks later, it did capture a moment in time, very vintage zallaz sound. smiley

it is refreshing and seems to be a pure, smooth, and alto.
(at least here) (not that you can't do other registers just as well)
ethereal interlude section is unique .
as is the nice guitar work.
the whole package leaves an authentic-live-your-life-fully-and-in-sweet-bliss aftertaste.

@ScottHorwath 'ethereal' eh? smiley That's an adjective rarely (possibly the 1st use of here) used on zallaz stuff, more what I'd associate with Mystified's music. smiley

As I mentioned Jana is the technical/musician here, I just scribble lyrics, generally I just pick up a guitar and go.

The bridge I'm not sure about some choir effect, sounds like a crowd of monks turned up out of the blue. It's a 'contrast' to the rest of the track for sure. smiley
Way Of The World (Acoustic Live+ Version 2013) by zallaz 5 years ago
@RubyDubidoux you'd have to ask Jana if they are 'half notes' she's singing. She has the music degree. I'm just a hack!! smiley

Yes it is a Garrison 12 String (no longer made btw, Garrison a Canadian guitar company got bought out by Gibson and kind of vanished since, there was talk of a relaunch...)

The track is flawed production wise, but as mentioned earlier it's one take live. smiley

Way Of The World (Acoustic Live+ Version 2013) by zallaz 5 years ago
@MakenaMonk, after reading what you mentioned I went back and listened. You are correct. Casting my mind back to when we recorded this, MissRedd was slightly to one side of the zoom. plus at the very very start I hear 'Queenie' the pet dog walk by. (I hear her collar jangle), now wether she nudged the table and also repositioned the Zoom too...

Anyway enough backstory trivia, it is 'live' one take. Everything recorded 'as is'.

The bridge, well I'm really not sure if those keyboards added post performance add anything of merit, perhaps I need to live with the track a while?

Anyhows I'm glad you like Jana's vocals on this! smiley

Inside Yourself featuring Amanda Chapman by zallaz 5 years ago
@MissRedd thank 'Bundle' for locating this, glad you enjoyed it, I guess we are all guilty of missing tracks even on artists we know. That has long been the blessing and curse of iComp, the sheer amount of tracks to check out, would keep you busy for years easily. smiley

I also find hearing tracks from other years it's like an almost musical memory jogger and 'oh yeah, I did this one because of ie buying a new gutar, or something' y'know? smiley

Enough nonsense from me, without Amanda doing her fabulous vocals it would be a one dimensional track! smiley

@SISTERS glad you like the guitar solo! smiley

@Doug_CN Yep, it was a kind of 'no thrills' approach, it's tempting to keep adding tracks and before you know it it's layers of sound but the vibe is buried. smiley

@SOULWAVE Cheers for checking out this version too, I recollect you also did so on the earlier version too! smiley

@sammydix Nice to know you enjoyed MissRedd's production duties, nowadays personally I'm very much of the 'let me just play the music' and if someone else wants to mix a track I'm more than happy to oblige.

I'd rather concentrate on writing lyrics and trying not to repeat myself musically in the creative proccess, if possible. smiley

Plastic Lips and Metal Bones by Tribrix 5 years ago
I'd keep goin' and see where it leads, it's the basis of a cool track and sounds great so far, personally I've always took a track with a cool 'feel/emotion' over sonic perfection which can sometimes come over as 'sterile' and 'dry' y'know? smiley
Space.In.Between by JanaSaisQuoi 5 years ago
@ffej55 The backstory to that guitar part was watching the recent documentary 'Sound City' and seeing Rick Neilsen recording a guitar solo, now although I play nothing like him it had more to do with 'approach', it just sent me in another direction sonically.

I like the song and the new genre. Nice work by you both.

Cool pic, too.

Yes those lyrics are 'scathing' in places but as MIssRedd says 'musical catharsis'. Here's a random anecdote, the photo you refer to was taken in Allan Gardens Toronto, but while we where trying to figure an appropiate illustration of 'space inbetween' visually the TV station 'Space' had a film crew in there too, so it was like a strange 'Space' meets 'space' coinciedence.

@KennethLavrsen yes MissRedds vocals are superb for sure. smiley
@Naaji thanks! smiley
@Gadzooks 'Quirky' eh, cool! smiley
@pinkyrv the two versions (the earlier 'explicit'/live acoustic') and this one both have a nicely contrasting texture. On this version we where aiming for the track to 'evolve'. There are some subtle enhancements goin' on in MIssRedds' production here, the haunting ambient vocals on the chorus, and the outros final 'flamenco' style ending, where on earth did you find that MissRedd? smiley

About a million years ago jana when I heard you post a lil' ditty called 'Chicken Noodle Soup' your lyrics/vocal delivery did stop me in my tracks, and now many years on that unique 'from the heart' style still sounds pretty darn unique in my opinion.

What was fun this morning thinking up a picture with both of us in as we walked the streets of Toronto that would illustrate the song title... (there's a couple of 'outtakes' below).
