Two old curmudgeons singing the classic Christmas hymn, Silent Night. - Robert Andrews and Jack Miller. We originally published this on December 14, 2006 at another site. This remix is published here at iCompositions for the first time.

Tobin Mueller commented in 2006:
"The best versions of this tune, I think, make me think of someone singing as bombs are falling all around, like an island of hope, faith as necessary denial, belief as a wall of dignity, music as a fortress. I see you guys on a hilltop, holocaust streaking down setting the valley on fire, making shadows of your certain forms, a campfire writ large. The unexpected Joe Cocker moment at the end was very cool. Made me think maybe you're singing just outside a jail window, in the alley, the light of burning garbage in a barrel throwing shadows on the wall, warming hands..."

vocals: Rob and Jack
guitar, bass, keyboard: Jack

This offering is a wish of good tidings to all out there from Rob and myself.

I like Tobin's comment … the disparity of human capabilities is staggering – from making objects that can kill masses, to creating music that can soothe the hearts of many – I'm glad that this is of the later category. This is a beautiful arrangement, creative, and well performed. Very enjoyable.

Dug it the moment I heard what Jack was doin'.

Lettin' me croak all over it was an honor and a pleasure.

I asked Jack to post this in memory of Harold Luper who I got to meet a day before he passed away.

Harold really liked what Jack and I did with this.

Thanks Jack for posting it. I miss the ole boy terribly.

It put a tear in my eye and a smile on my heart.

And thanks for the nods of approval, all y'all.

Merry Christmas!
