This is a lullaby I wrote for my granddaughter Maya for her first birthday earlier this year. I wrote the words and music but the accompaniment is a combination of Garage Band loops I put together.

Great singing. I think this would be enhanced if you took out the guitars and just had your voice and the percussion.

Thanks for your comments. I might try that. I do a lot of a capella work but thought Maya's mom would appreciate the guitar accompaniment. I really appreciate your rating the song, also. smiley

Now there are at least two Mayas in the world who thank you for a most beautiful lullabye. Since there's no download offered I vow to rock my baby in my arms in front of the Mac. At 21 months, she already follows the pointer and says "up - down" when I move the mouse! She'll really dig this when I turn the visualizer effect on!

Oh, Carla, what a beautiful and distinctive voice you have!
Please, let me know when you upload a new song.
Do you do harmonies in your a capella songs? With your voice and your training, it might be glorious!

Congratulations for this beautiful piece.
And thank you for sharing.

macoco.

Beautiful piece. I, too, would love to hear this without the guitar.

Welcome to iComp. The best place in the world.

Thanks Becwil, I'll put an a capella version up one of these days... I certainly have several of them! I just didn't like them as much as the one with the guitars myself and I wanted to make something which would be easy to sing along to for my daughter and grandson so they'd sing it to her, too (it's also a bit lower in range than I'd do for my own comfort). Thank goodness for vocal training! Years ago, I couldn't have sung a tune that low to save my life. smiley

I sent some private messages to you Ciheins, Macoco, and Bob6slinger. Thanks for your wonderful comments and sorry, B6S that I didn't see your comments sooner. (!) Been busy and away from this wonderful place for far too long. smiley

Carla...wow. I know a lot more about music than I do about art, and I really enjoyed this. In reference to a previous comment, I think an interesting version of this song could be made with just percussion and vocals, but not a better one. The guitar supports the lullaby sound.

I heard some temerity in a couple of longer notes (I note that you are singing below your comfortable range) and it would be really cool to hear a full-quality recording of this (yeah, yeah, I know) with clarity in the vocal mike and a few tweaks to the balance. But this is a beautiful song and your voice has a distinctive beauty as well.

Thanks you guys - both for coming by and listening and for your comments!

M: This was the first thing I did with GarageBand and I was just learning how to use it so there are lots of things which could use some tweaking - singing lower than my range is hard, too, but it was worth it given the audience it was geared towards. smiley I still intend to post some other versions but haven't had time... what else is new, eh? smiley

(ArtyEm and Mejaka are both people I know from what used to be Cafe Utne, now the New Cafe, where I co-host the Arts Conference. So, it's cool to have some of my visual arts buddies hear what I'm doing musically. smiley

I love it. I forgot, I DID download this months ago, and forgot it was you! Beautiful voice. Bless you and your prescience for this lullabye for ... my Maya, too. She's now approaching 3 years. We both thank you... again.

To be honest I at first was not happy with the effects on your voice...since without 'm you sound so terrific already... it still remains a gourgious tune...
The ending is kinda abrubt for me...but hear who is speaking...hahahaahah...
rather short imo....I need a longer song to put me to sleep smiley

Lol... there are lots of problems with this, I know. But it did the trick! Just something for a special little blonde with hooks in my heart. smiley I have often wanted to sing it with live accompaniment instead of the loops but so far haven't gotten it together with anyone. Maybe this year since I'm so much more active here at iComp. This song is keyed too low for me to sing naturally but I was trying to make it easy for parents and friends to sing it and my original version was in the stratosphere (where I usually feel most comfortable singing, especially anything quiet. Still, it's a sentimental favorite.
