Track twelve on Shadows. Album artwork provided by the lovely Carol Watson, http://www.lostcanuck.com/.

Choosing a genre was non-trivial. To me this is metal, because it's part of the same project and has (to me) the same feel as my other Paradise Lost-influenced tracks. (The biggest influence for this one is Deus Misereatur from Icon.) But it doesn't have much in the way of heavy guitars until the end, and even then they're more a texture than the focus. So I plumped for Other, with an alternate genre of Metal.

I'm reasonably pleased with the production on this one (which is rare for me). I think I'm starting to find "the sound", whatever that means. This piece gets very layered towards the end, and finding frequency spaces for all the instruments which worked on all my various sets of earphones, speakers etc. wasn't the easiest of tasks. Constructive feedback is welcomed.

Enjoy!

-Eido

Just an awesome composition !! Think I've made the descent. It all sound familiar. Great build into the metal. Love the grinding guitar !! Piano..really hits the spot at the end there.Nice touch. OK....I'm impressed !!!

Starts of good and then just keeps getting better. Builds like a Bolero. The production is spot on.

Anything with shadows in it draws my attention right away (LOL) Having said that this is a totally cool track I've been following your series with great interest, and enjoying the tunes, you have posted. This track has that that strong prog/rock feel that I love so much.

Nice one, Eido! Loved the piano/strings and acoustic guitar. The riffing guitar has, I feel, even better tone than your previous versions. Was this a miked Marshall? The lead wah guitar was (an opinion) a tad in-my-face, but that may have been intentional. A great listen, and loved the layers and buildup. My kinda music. Thanks for sharing.

I like the darkness of this and the build up as if a storm was coming and then the rain I mean guitars smiley at the end with the piano is great... I think it would be cool to put some wind in there when it's just the synth sound before the rain (just a suggestion) Nice tune very original keep it up.

okj first of all sorry for the delay, i was a bit too busy to come and place my comment smiley

ok so i'm listening, and the intro is (as i already said) really good!! the drums are also good (some weird noises but sounds good to me) i i love it when the guitar kicks in (it has this dissonant sound
i like alot! )
the synth effect is cool, i like the little delay it has to pass like a floating item over the notes,
nicely done!

here's the only thing i don't like, the sound of the melody guitar you put in there with that kind of wahwah, the sound isn't really nice to listen to in my opinion ... but hey, it's only an opinion lol smiley

the end part is really really good!! i love tose rythm guitars coming in the last turn the music takes!! and the fact that you keep repeating the same rythm while adding more and more instruments makes it really complete and let's us comprehend the seriousnes of the story ( i don't really know if you can say that i hope you can understand me with my bad writing lol smiley )

in general: i think it's excellent! (except my little ear taste about the wahwah) but you have written a really nice instrumental !! FAV AND DOWN yet another beautiful song you gave us Eido

thanks!

Best Regards
Tetsuya

Only thing I guess I could say is that I wish the timpani stuck around for longer...I loved the beat at the end. Actually, I just really liked the end.

I think this is the kind of music that you have to listen several times to understand everything, the notes you choose are not the average major or minor, you get really cool and interesting intervals on those licks, I did'nt like the wah so much either, but the guitar tone in general is very heavy and cool, I would only suggest to low down a little bit the guitar level, I suppose the intention is to get that in your face sound but it gets just a little too far, excellent piece of music!!
